In the middle of life storms
Here is a question that Pastor Dan wrote in the welcome note "If we could only choose one - which would you choose. God's power or God's presence?"
He also cited a short story by Kim from The Christian Woman magazine which is as follows:
"One night, while my young son, Ryan, was sleeping, a storm began brewing outside. After a loud clap of thunder, I heard Ryan wake up and run to find me, so I headed toward his room to comfort him. When I tucked him back into bed, he asked me to stay with him until he fell asleep. As I lay there with him, I realized Ryan had not asked me to make the storm go away, instead he had asked me to stay with him."
I read this before Dan start today's sermon. It's a simple story, but touched my heart.
The sermon is about what we can do in the middle of storm. God keeps telling us
HE is a refuge, shelter and rock that we can rest and depend.
There may be a lot of people in life storms which I couldn't imagine.
I wrote a similar note on a page of my NIV bible.
I don't remember why I did write and post the following note on my bible.
"Faith to JESUS and GOD,
1. Do I believe all aspects of Jesus Christ? (power, love, his human personality, and so on)
2. 하나님이 어떤 능력을 보여주시지 않는다고 나의 믿음은 흔들리는가? 흔들리고 있다면 나는 무엇을 믿어왔나? 그분의 능력을? 그분의 사랑을?
"
Maybe I myself questioned my faith to him and encouraged myself to follow him, not because of his power, but because of his love and presence.
Dan also gave one more question- Can life storm draw us from God or drive us to God?
I hope life storm can draw everybody to God.
